Lately...

Lately I've been hooked on re-reading all of the Chronicles of Narnia books. I had forgotten how many there are! And just how captivating they are! I finished the final book of the series a few days ago and I've been in bummed mood that it is really over. Oh how I love a good book, lamplight and a cup of tea.

Here's to hoping the days fly by until I have forgotten all the small details and can re-read them once again!

April Desktop

April is here and I couldn't be more excited about the color pallet this month always brings! It was a joy to get out the watercolors and paint with pastel colors to use for this months wallpaper. To get the wallpaper, click the image below that is the right size for your computer and save the full resolution file to your computer.

Enjoy!

My Beloved Cardstock

A quick post just to share another beautiful photo from Carolann. She took this one quickly in between shooting cards during our Paper & Script Creative Day and I adore it. I love how a piece of card stock used to get rid of the excess ink in my calligraphy pen can turn into a piece of artwork. I've grown rather attached to this piece of paper and refuse to replace it with a fresh piece of paper even though it's about time.

Hope your week has started off well!

Santa Fe Banner

As I mentioned before, one trip to Santa Fe was enough for the city to steal my heart. The gorgeous colors and patterns are what I couldn't get enough of. Geometric shapes and natural colors.... what's not to love??

I was inspired by this to create a banner to hang in our home. I enlisted the help of one of our close friend's Cameron. He is one of Todd's childhood friends he grew up with. We had the pleasure of hosting Cameron in our home for a few days while he is traveling the U.S. in an old cargo van he has turned into camper van. You can follow that incredible adventure here. Aside from being a born adventurer, he is also an incredible videographer and entrepreneur. He started Hidden Clothing when he was 14 out of a pure love for BMX and community. It's honestly just silly the number of things he manages to balance. All that to say, it was a blast creating with him. Check it out...

Firstly, I do realize I have the world's messiest workspace. I know where everything is this way. I've also been working from our kitchen table since the day my desk decided it could no longer handled the weight I required to rest on top of it. Oh well...

Since the day my handy husband and father-in-law created a pair of screen printing presses for me, I have put them to use maybe 3 times. I discovered screen printing was was the quick and easy process I dreamed it would be. It teaches me patience. And attention to detail. And more patience.

Cameron was excited to put the press to use so we got to work creating something we could use. Cameron got started hand drawing our design to be transferred onto the screen and we passed it back and forth adding elements until we had something we liked! Once the canvas had dried, I cut it into a banner shape, stitched it with some twine and added a stick to make it into a hanging piece. Despite our many mistakes and repeating steps again and again, we are proud of the result and I'm looking forward to learning more about screen printing!

March Desktop

Happy March!

The sun is beginning to come around more and I have the perfect desktop to celebrate her arrival! A very talented friend of mine, Jordan Vonderhaar, has been taking photos for quite some time. He has lived in Colorado, working as a backpacking guide for multiple summers in a row. He makes a point to go back regularly as well as take trips to as many beautiful places he can find. The result is a wealth of gorgeous landscape photos and knowledge of landscape photography.

After far too long, he finally decided to give the world the opportunity to buy his prints on his website. (It's about time, Jordan) We recently added one to our gallery wall and it couldn't have been a more perfect addition! I love that everything on our gallery wall holds such meaning.

All that to say, I teamed up with Jordan to create a free desktop download for all who would like it! To get the wallpaper, click the image above and save the full resolution file to your computer.

Weekend Getaway (Pt. 2)

It's Friday! But it feels like a Wednesday here in the Farnsworth house. Our weekend begins Monday. Hooray for odd work schedules!

I have some more pictures to share with you from our road trip last weekend. After leaving Palo Duro Canyon, we headed for Santa Fe and then on to Big Bend National Park from there. I did not take any good photos in Santa Fe because I was so infatuated with the architecture and sights all around me. It was my first time there and I am already dying to go back.

On our trip from Santa Fe to Big Bend, we stopped in Pecos, NM for Todd to do a bit of fly fishing in the VERY icy Pecos River.

We got into Big Bend pretty late so we headed straight for our unexpectedly super remote campsite where we car camped. We were treated in the morning to the most beautiful sunset as we sat surrounded by mountains. It was well worth the hour long backroad to get there.

We met up with our friends, John and Kelly, and enjoyed some breakfast tacos before John set out to get some work done. I was quite excited at the opportunity to watch him work. He is an incredible sketch artist and painter and they have named 2014 the Coleman Art Year. I highly recommend following him on his journey here. He has begun practicing plein air painting in which you capture a brief moment of sunlight outdoors and then take the piece back to the studio to finish up details later. He had quite the scenery to choose from and we got the chance to see a few beautiful landscapes transferred to canvas. It was lovely.

The end the trip we jumped in the hot springs situated on the edge of the Rio Grande and enjoyed the view of Mexico. One hundred trips to Big Bend in a year still wouldn't be enough to take it all in.

Hope your weekend is filled with beautiful weather. San Antonio is shining today!
