Farnsworth Design Co. grew out of four family homes—and a lot of learning along the way.

Whitney and her husband, Todd, have spent much of their married life buying, renovating and rethinking the places their family calls home. Their three daughters have lived through all four of them: the construction, the projects that worked, the ones that didn't, the rooms that changed as the family changed, and the seemingly small decisions that ended up making everyday life a whole lot better.

Those homes became an education in how the spaces around us shape the way we live.

Whitney's approach to design grew there, too. A love of old things and natural materials. Rooms that feel collected rather than decorated. Beauty that can stand up to children, dogs, muddy shoes and everyday life. And a belief that the best homes aren't finished all at once—they evolve with the people who live there.

With each house came a little more confidence, a few more lessons learned, and a clearer understanding of what makes a home feel good to live in.
