Weekend Getaway (Pt. 1)

Get ready for some colorful photos....

Thanks to Todd's new job and the odd schedule he is on, we now have a 4 day weekend every three weeks. It took me some time to warm up to this unusual schedule ( 7 days on 2 off & 8 days on 4 off)  but after experiencing a long weekend that allowed for a spontaneous getaway, I am loving it. We took off Wednesday night and headed for Palo Duro Canyon outside of Amarillo and then headed west from there.

We couldn't possibly take in all the beautiful colors and gorgeous sights at every turn, but I tried to capture the beauty of this massive canyon. At 60 miles long, it is the second largest canyon in the U.S. Worth the trip there for sure.

Cooper had a blast. When we got the the steep hills and ledges on the way up to the top of Lighthouse Rock, Cooper dashed right up the rocks like she was bred for it. She's the best adventure dog there ever was.

After Palo Duro we took off for Santa Fe, NM and eventually headed down to Big Bend National Park to meet up with some friends. There was far too much to take in this weekend and I'll save the latter half of our trip for another post!

It was all just plain gorgeous. The world just seems to get even bigger with the more creations I discover. I just hope I can take painting lessons from God when I get to heaven.

Creative Day

(iphone photo taken to document the beautiful mess we were making)

Yesterday was my favorite kind of day. Sadly, my hardworking husband was away at work on a Saturday, but I had the company of two of my college roommates and closest friends.

Carolann Morgan is the incredible photographer behind CAM Photography. (She's got the most perfect initials for such a career, right?!) This sweet-spirited gal brought over her camera to photograph some paper goods for the Paper & Script website which will soon be up and running! We have yet to capture styled photos of the goods we will be selling online and are excited to now have beautiful photos to share with the world!

Molly (my business partner and best friend) and I jumped in front of the camera for a bit, after finishing up with the important stuff, with the intention of getting a good photo of the two of us for the P&S website. I'll be the first to admit, I am NOT a natural in front of the camera. What was meant to be a semi-serious photographing of the two of us quickly turned into goofing off and fits of laughter which resulted in some of the most entertaining of photographs.

I am so thankful for the friends God gave me and their creative talents that He knew would one day be colliding into the first of many Creative Days of the year 2014.

Chalking

There a few things I love more than facing a blank chalkboard with a stick of chalk in hand. I have the joy of being in this very situation time and time again thanks to my relationship with the lovely BIRD bakery here in San Antonio. The owner, Elizabeth Chambers, is a interior design genius. On top of the busy life that she leads, she is constantly keeping the BIRD bakery nest a beautiful environment to be in. Pretty places are always the most inspiring of places.

All that to say, I have had the pleasure of becoming the unofficial chalk artist for this darling place. This morning was full of blank chalkboards, delicious coffee, and some lovely friends. These are some of the newest updates to the Bb chalkboards....
