Autumn Rehearsal Dinner

It is evident that I do not blog often (I continue to gain more and more respect for those who do) and this blog post is well worth taking the time to sit down in front of the computer!

Last month I had the chance to create a few calligraphy pieces for a rehearsal dinner shoot at the beautiful Winfield Inn with the most fabulous collection of wedding vendors in the Austin area. The food was unreal. The people were of the sweetest kind. And these photos.... Michelle Boyd is ridiculous. They turned out absolutely gorgeous I think!

The shoot was featured on Grey Likes Weddings and you can check it out in entirety here!

Wedding Vows

I couldn't be more excited to share this set of photos with the world because...

a) I can't get enough Carolann's photography... I mean, these are just absolutely beautiful photos and I couldn't be more thankful for such a talented friend.

and

b) These are perhaps the most beautifully written vows I have ever heard. Our good friends Kelly & John Coleman got married about 3 months after us. At our wedding, I was determined to have the shortest possible ceremony which meant short traditional vows that required no thought... but oh how I absolutely adore the Coleman vows which they wrote themselves and spoke before the (quite large) crowd of family and friends who attended their wedding. They are a perfectly worded description of a biblical marriage that brings glory to God. What a great thing to share with their wedding guests.

I am encouraged and challenged in my own marriage by these words.

If you're in need of a new desktop, here is one to welcome the exciting days of summer ahead! Perhaps it's my English studies background, but I love knowing the definitions of words. There is something about knowing how to describe a word by stringing other words together that is just so fulfilling. So here is your vocabulary word of the month:

Explore (verb) : to traverse or range over for the purpose of discovery; to learn about something by trying it.

I start all calligraphy projects by sketching them out in pencil to get the structure how I want it to be, then the process continues on from there. I started sketching for this wallpaper, however, and loved how the pencil matched the coloring of the photo so much that I just stopped there!

Here ya go, flashback to your vocabulary word card days....

High on the Things Whitney Loves list is magazines. I've always loved them. I am the biggest sucker for cheap magazine subscriptions. The little annoying pieces of card stock that jump out at you the moment you open those flimsy pages were meant for me. I don't love to run but you can bet the Farnsworth house is a monthly recipient of Runner's World. What is even worse is that I can't throw them away. Ever.

I'm not proud of my subscription addiction but perhaps the greatest part about it is that I have an endless supply of brightly colored photos and text just waiting to be cut out and up cycled. So in honor of my magazine addiction, I present to you the May Collage Desktop! Enjoy!
